Ghost Town of Val Jalbert

What we’re gonna do right here is go back, back into time… that’s what it felt like when I visited Val-Jalbert earlier this month.

The historic village of Val-Jalbert is the best preserved ghost town in Canada, abandoned in 1927 when the pulp factory closed shop and the employees had to leave their homes. Still about 70 buildings remain, as well as part of the factory.. the place is quite surreal, but really worth the detour! There is some (french-language only) animation by actors playing some original inhabitants giving you the impression of being in another time/place alltogether (if it weren’t for the other picture-snapping tourists of course).. here are some of my pictures.. I have more, let me know if you’d like to see more..
